Tom Brady says he’ll never run for president

Ronald Reagan went from cultural icon to president. Why not Tom Brady?

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Brady discussed the possibility of a life in politics when his playing days end, with author Chuck Klosterman suggesting to Brady that he could win an election for governor — or even president.

“There is a 0.000 chance of me ever wanting to do that,’’ Brady said. “I just think that no matter what you’d say or what you’d do, you’d be in a position where—you know, you’re politicking. You know? Like, I think the great part about what I do is that there’s a scoreboard. At the end of every week, you know how you did. You know how well you prepared. You know whether you executed your game plan. There’s a tangible score. I think in politics, half the people are gonna like you and half the people are not gonna like you, no matter what you do or what you say.… It’s like there are no right answers. If there were, everyone would choose the right answers. They’re all opinions.’’

Brady also appeared on the cover after being selected as one of the Magazine’s “Men of the Year.’’ Later in the interview, Brady showed that he’s already something of a politician, refusing to address questions about Deflategate. The 38-year-old had several reasons for continually avoiding the topic, one being: “There’s still an appeal going on.’’ But Klosterman peppered Brady with questions still unanswered.

“Chuck, go read the transcript from a five-hour appeal hearing. It’s still ongoing,’’ Brady said. “I don’t really care how the Patriots are perceived, truthfully. I really don’t. I really don’t.’’

Those hoping he’ll change his mind about “Tom for President’’ will have to wait. Brady has played sixteen years in the NFL, and has said he intends to try and play 10 more.

“What else am I going to do?’’ he asked in October on WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan.

With four Super Bowl rings and those looks, Tom, pretty much anything.
