Patriots fans will always have nightmares about these Giant catches
The Brady and Belichick Era has given New England Patriots fans countless moments that they will always want to remember. But there have also been at least two plays that they’ll never be able to forget, no matter how hard they might try.
Both involve wide receivers for the New York Giants making incredible, improbable Super Bowl-defining catches.
In the closing minutes of Super Bowl XLII, Giants quarterback Eli Manning somehow escaped a swarm of would-be tacklers and threw to David Tyree. He pinned the ball against his helmet to make the catch, despite Rodney Harrison’s tight coverage. The Giants scored the go-ahead touchdown later in the drive, ending the 2007 Patriots’ bid for a perfect 19-0 season.
