This ‘off the chain’ meal is what Shane Vereen misses most about New England
There are many things a New Englander might miss after a work-related move to New York: The best variety of clam chowder, all that beautiful fall foliage, and summers on the Cape.
Former Patriots running back Shane Vereen didn’t name any of those things when asked what he misses most after leaving New England to join the New York Giants before the 2015 season.
“Shoot,’’ Vereen responded when faced with that question — and prompted to perhaps suggest a local restaurant — during a conference call with reporters on Wednesday. “Okay, one thing in Foxboro I would say is Skipjack’s.’’
And what menu item did Vereen, who played for the Patriots from 2011 through 2014, prefer when visiting the seafood spot?
“The chicken wings,’’ he told reporters. “Oh, off the chain. And with the bread, too? Oh, that bread is fantastic. Oh yeah. That was good stuff.’’
Provided Vereen doesn’t upset New Englanders by helping the Giants hand the Patriots their first loss of the season, perhaps Skipjack’s would even send him a care package.
The restaurant misses him too.
