Tom Brady on the Giants: ‘We’ve always had a hard time beating these guys’
The Patriots’ upcoming matchup with the Giants means dredging up Super Bowl memories that many New England fans would rather forget.
Cue replays of the David Tyree catch in Super Bowl XLII … and the Mario Manningham catch in Super Bowl XLVI.
“We’ve always had a hard time beating these guys one way or another,’’ Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said, laughing, on Monday during The Dennis and Callahan Show on WEEI. “So hopefully we can get over our struggles and finally go out and play well and beat them.’’
The undefeated Patriots (8-0) have a 4:25 p.m. appointment with Eli Manning’s Giants (5-4) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Giants famously ended the 2007 Patriots’ bid for a 19-0 campaign with a surprise upset win in Super Bowl XLII.
During Brady’s 16-year career, the only time a Patriots-Giants matchup wasn’t decided by four points or fewer was in his first game against New York’s NFC team. In that 2003 matchup, a 17-6 win for New England, Brady completed eight of 21 passes for 112 yards and finished with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
Overall, Brady is 2-3 against the Giants, averaging 226 yards, 1.4 touchdowns, and 0.6 interceptions per game.
Bill Belichick’s not mad; this is just his RBF
