Following the St. Louis Rams game Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings — in which Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was knocked out of the game — NBC analyst Rodney Harrison said he wasn’t surprised.

The former New England Patriots safety said cheap shots are “typical of Jeff Fisher-type teams.’’

(Harrison wasn’t the only one — Vikings coach Mike Zimmer lofted a few postgame shots at the Rams, particularly defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.)

Fisher, the Rams coach, was asked about Harrison’s comments during a press conference Monday, and he came prepared for the question.

“This coming from a guy that had 18 unnecessary roughness penalties, seven personal fouls, four roughing-the-passer penalties, a total of 77 penalties in his career and was voted three times the dirtiest player in the National Football League,’’ Fisher said, glancing at notes on the podium. “And was suspended for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Jerry Rice in 2002. This is where these comments are coming from.’’

Citing his participation in the player safety-focused competition committee, Fisher concluded by calling Harrison’s comments “absolutely absurd.’’

That said, Harrison’s remarks aren’t the first time Fisher-coached teams have beenaccused of playing dirty.
