Larry David steals some of Trump’s spotlight on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ makes $5,000
In a show that had viewers tune in at record levels to see Donald Trump host Saturday Night Live, it was Larry David who got the biggest laughs.
The comedian and co-creator of Seinfeld first appeared in the show’s cold open, bringing back his curmudgeonly impersonation of Bernie Sanders for a parody of MSNBC’s Democratic presidential candidates forum.
Skip ahead to the 4:00 marker in the sketch to see David’s gripy, “I-don’t-need-no-fancy-introduction’’ impression of the Vermont senator.

“Listen, Rachel,’’ David addressed Cecily Strong as MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, “the other candidates, they’re taking millions of dollars from the Koch brothers and Exxon Mobil. But not me — I only accept coins. And I’m not talking about fancy coins like dimes and quarters. I just want nickels and pennies, the coins of the middle class.’’
Soon after, David returned to interupt Trump’s monologue and call the Republican presidential candidate a “racist.’’

“Trump’s a racist,’’ David heckled from off-stage, in a scripted bit — to laughs and applause from the audience.
In the run-up to Trump’s hosting of SNL, Deport Racism said it would give $5,000 to anyone that could disrupt the show by shouting “Deport Racism’’ or “Trump is a racist’’ for the real-estate mogul’s past comments about Latino immigrants.
“What are you doing Larry?’’ Trump asked.
“I heard if I yelled that they’d give me $5,000,’’ David said with a shrug.
He wasn’t wrong.
Deport Racism tweeted early Sunday morning they would fulfill their promise — “joke or not.’’
