New photos surfaced by DeadspinFriday afternoon detail injuries suffered during an alleged altercation between current NFL star Greg Hardy and his former girlfriend.

The 48 photos show bruises and other injuries to Nicole Holder, injuries police documents show Holder obtained during a domestic incident with Hardy a year and a half ago. You can see some of those photos in the Deadspin video below, but please note the images may be disturbing.

Hardy was initially found guilty by a North Carolina judge. On appeal, the criminal ase fell apart after Holder received a settlement. Hardy was initially suspended 10 games by the NFL, but that suspension was reduced to four games.

In addition to photos, Deadspin published testimony Holder gave to police.

“I tried to get up, he pushed me,’’ she said, “then I started fighting back, he threw me into the bathroom, I hit the back of the shower wall and fell into the bathtub where he pulled me out.’’ He dragged her out by her hair and picked her up again, she said, throwing her onto the futon, which had several weapons—what she described as “guns from … the Army or … I mean like from video games’’—on it. She landed on top of the rifles and then fell onto the floor. In her telling, he stood above her and strangled her with both his hands. She would later tell Detective Faye Strother that she thought she was going to die. “His pupils were tiny,’’ she said. “I mean he looked … crazy.’’

According to a source, ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that the NFL had seen all of the photos released Friday before suspending Hardy. Hardy was signed to a one-year, $11.3 million deal by the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently praised his defensive end as “a real leader.’’ The Cowboys did not respond to comment from Deadspin concerning its report.
