LeGarrette Blount praises New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The Boston Red Sox have an emotional afternoon, bidding farewell to Larry Lucchino and Don Orsillo. And Rob Gronkowski says the bye week is for letting your muscles chill.

Blount, Jonathan Kraft both say Brady is the best quarterback ever to play in the NFL: “Me personally, he’s the best quarterback to ever play this game,’’ said running back LeGarrette Blount, whose locker is situated just a few feet from Brady’s. “It’s an honor to be out there and be able to play with him. There’s not a lot of guys that can say that. It’s crazy to play with the best quarterback to ever play in this game and he’s not done.’’ (CSNNE.com)

Lucchino honored by team as tenure comes to an end: “Once Lucchino fired the ceremonial first pitch to Ortiz — and Ortiz came out to hug Lucchino so hard he lifted the 70-year-old off his feet — it marked the end of an era and the start of a transition.’’ (The Boston Globe)

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny says the Patriots are on a ‘whole different level’: “With them, it seems they are always playing at a high level right out of the gate,’’ said Posluszny. “Whether it’s the same system, the same quarterback, the same guys. You know, regardless of where they are in the season, what you are going to get.’’ (CSNNE.com)

Matt Beleskey develops early chemistry with the Boston Bruins: “After Sunday’s practice at TD Garden, [Claude] Julien was throwing compliments at the Krejci-Pastrnak-Beleskey line, particularly in the wake of [David] Krejci’s two goals in a 4-3 overtime win in Detroit on Saturday night. The line had 20 shot attempts.’’ (The Boston Globe)

Justin Coleman brings the swagger in win over Jags: “There are circuitous routes to an NFL roster, and then there’s the bizarre route taken by New England Patriots cornerback Justin Coleman.’’ (MassLive.com)

Don’t expect Jae Crowder to get complacent: “Jae Crowder is comfortable now. He’s out of Dallas. He’s with a team that gets what he can do and sees his value. He’s got a new five-year contract that will pay him $35 million total and give his young family plenty of security.’’ (Boston Herald)

It’s bye week — Gronk says it’s time to ‘let your muscles chill’: “You can always take a positive out of the bye week,’’ he said. “Work hard to your body right, get your strength back in the weight room and just stay conditioned. Just rest, let your muscles chill and do what you have to do to be ready for next game.’’ (WEEI.com)

Devin McCourty’s interception pivoted the outcome of the game: “At an initial glance, and without the benefit of film review, a look at which New England Patriots are “up’’ and “down’’ in the team’s 51-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Gillette Stadium.’’ (ESPNBoston.com)

Amir Johnson has a strong defensive scrimmage: “There’s little things that go into winning that you try to talk about that just don’t get noticed enough. And we saw it yesterday,’’ Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. “In a 10-minute scrimmage, I thought he was terrific defensively in a system he hasn’t played in yet — largely because he played with a motor regardless of whether he made mistakes or not.’’ (MassLive.com)
