Tom Brady can’t remember a time he had a beer with Bill Belichick
Tom Brady doesn’t think he’s ever had a beer with his boss — he and Bill Belichick don’t go out for drinks.
Gary Myers covered the Brady-Belichick relationship in his book Brady vs Manning: The Untold Story of the Rivalry That Transformed the NFL. An except published on MMQB.com painted a picture of the tandem’s business-only partnership.
In Brady’s 16 seasons working with Bill Belichick, he can’t remember a time where the two hung out for a beer or a slice of pizza.
“I don’t think we ever have,’’ Brady said. “We’re around each other so much, whenever we have time, nothing ever comes of it.’’
Brady has been open about his personal life with Belichick, but Belichick has remained reserved. Brady said he has seen glimpses of Belichick being himself “very, very rarely’’ and only in “non-football environments.’’
“When it’s outside of football, he’s a totally different person,’’ Brady said. “As soon as he’s in football mode, it’s like hitting a switch.’’
Belichick once attended a Halloween costume party hosted by Randy Moss. That was the only incidence of socializing that Brady and Meyer’s could muster.
Maybe after Belichick and Brady have retired, done their job, and done it well, they can share a hoppy beverage.
Bill Belichick’s not mad; this is just his RBF
