NFL picks Ben Roethlisberger over Tom Brady for AFC Player of the Week

AP

Tom Brady had a historic day Sunday.

But according to the NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s day was just a little bit better.

The league named the Steelers QB, not the Patriots’ Golden Boy, the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2. Brady was one of nine other nominees.

Here’s a look at the two signal callers’ days side-by-side.

Result: Roethlisberger, 43-18 home win over the 49ers. Brady, 40-32 road win over the Bills. Push.

Touchdowns: Roethlisberger, 3. Brady, 3. Push.

Turnovers: Roethlisberger, 0. Brady, 1 fumble lost. Advantage Roethlisberger.

Yards: Roethlisberger, 369. Brady, 466. Advantage Brady.

Completion percentage: Roethlisberger, 78 percent (21/27). Brady, 64 percent (38/59). Advantage Roethlisberger.

QB rating: Roethlisberger, 155.8. Brady, 105.6. Advantage Roethlisberger.

Less than an hour after the Steelers congratulated Roethlisberger on the award on Twitter, the Patriots just so happened to tweet out Brady’s Week 2 accomplishments.

Coincidence, or a possible rebuttal?
