Sports Roundup: Is Pablo Sandoval’s poor conditioning a problem?
Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval got dizzy running the bases, and CSNNE’s Sean McAdam thinks his conditioning is a problem. The Baltimore Ravens used the same formations they once called “deceptive.’’ And David Ortiz’s goal for next year is winning a World Series.
Pablo Sandoval conditioning is becoming an issue: “I’ve lost track of the number of games from which Sandoval has been removed this season for either “dehydration’’ or “lightheadedness.’’ This is not typical for a professional athlete. We aren’t talking about a pulled muscle or a turned ankle. Sandoval has been removed for being dehydrated or lightheaded and that signals the obvious — Sandoval isn’t in shape.’’ (CSNNE.com)
History puts Tom Brady’s 2015 season in perspective: “How impressive has New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady been through the first two games of the regular season?’’ (ESPNBoston.com)
In Week 3, the Patriots face another mobile quarterback in Blake Bortles: “In a way, the Patriots already have. They spent last week game planning for the Bills’ Tyrod Taylor — an athletic, mobile quarterback who is able to make or extend plays with his feet. This week, the Patriots will look at film of the Jaguars’ Blake Bortles — an athletic, mobile quarterback who is able to make or extend plays with his feet.’’ (The Boston Globe)

Brady liked chances of 70 Patriots players against 70,000 Buffalo fans: “’There were 70,000 fans who were against us yesterday, and there was the 70 guys and coaches on the field that could have an impact on the game,’ Brady told WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan show on Monday morning. ’Those 70 guys, I thought we were prepared and we were ready to go. We just needed to go out there and execute. And we did that for the better part of the entire afternoon except for the last part of the game.’’’ (CSNNE.com)
Red Sox celebrate David Ortiz’s 500th home run with help from Pedro Martinez: “During a 15-minute pregame ceremony before the Red Sox faced Tampa Bay on Monday night, former teammates Pedro Martinez, Tim Wakefield and Jason Varitek came out of a new vehicle that was presented to him by his teammates and the organization.’’ (Boston.com)
David Ortiz wants another ring before he retires:“Asked his goal, Ortiz said, ‘Winning another World Series. I’ll take a World Series anytime on top of 500 home runs any day. That’s my goal. That’s my goal for next year. That was my goal for this year, but it didn’t work out that way. I’ll be on it next year.’’’ (ESPNBoston.com)

Minor surgery has major benefits for Adam McQuaid during Bruins’ offseason: “Adam McQuaid was one of those Bruins players that appeared bigger, stronger and ready for the battles when he showed up at captain’s practices in September, and with very good reason. McQuaid told CSNNE.com that he had minor surgery this summer for a ‘pectoralis minor release’ that essentially removed a muscle from his left pectoral area, and allowed him to work out without any restrictions for the first time in years.’’ (CSNNE.com)
