On game-deciding play, Seahawks run it and still lose

Marshawn Lynch didn’t laugh this one off.

On the game-deciding play in overtime of the Seattle Seahawks season-opener against the St. Louis Rams, Pete Carroll elected to hand the ball off to Lynch. And Lynch failed to get the first down, finishing the Rams’ 34-31 upset over the Seahawks.

It was oddly reminiscent of Seattle’s final offensive play of Super Bowl XLIX, which ended up being a game-losing Russell Wilson interception.

Maybe they should’ve thrown it. So, what’s the Seahawks’ record now?

That can’t be right. Despite Wilson’s incorrect pregame prediction, Seattle is 0-1 and have lost two straight extending into last season. Wilson wasn’t the only person confused on Sunday — ESPN also had some issues.
