In the NFL, the last cut can be the deepest.

The Patriots released 11 players on Saturday afternoon, notably running back Jonas Gray and wide receiver Reggie Wayne. All 32 NFL teams needed to trim rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday. According to NFL.com, more than 600 players lost jobs around the league by the deadline.

The other veteran players cut by the Patriots on Saturday were tight end Asante Cleveland, linebacker Darius Fleming, cornerback Robert McClain, defensive lineman Zach Moore and wide receiver Jalen Saunders. Defense back Daxton Swanson, defensive back Justin Coleman, linebacker Xzavier Dickson and safety Brandon King were also released.
