Why Aaron Hernandez is trending in Boston

This is why we can’t have nice things.

After New York City judge Richard Berman overturned the NFL’s 4-game suspension of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, which was followed by the NFL’s announcement that it will appeal, social media was in full frenzy.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for a few Pats fans/trolls/jerks to ruin the party.

Aaron Hernandez, the former Patriot who was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, trended on Twitter in Boston.

Guys, no. Just stop.

It didn’t end there, as folks thought tweets like these were acceptable:

In February, Boston.com ran a piece on the small but ardent group of Hernandez supporters who congregated on Facebook and Twitter. They believed the tight end was innocent, and wanted to see the player go free.

Now, Hernandez has had his day in court, has been tried by a jury of his peers, and will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Hernandez was a pretty good tight end. He’s also been convicted of one murder, and charged with two more.

Every citizen of Patriot Nation is psyched number 12 will suit up for every regular season game. Odin Lloyd’s mother will never see her son again.

Not cool, Boston. Not cool.
