Steroids and deflated footballs have little in common — and according to U.S. District Court Judge Richard M Berman, there’s little language in the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement to support similar punishments for both violations.

The NFL attempted to justify Tom Brady’s four-game suspension by comparing his conduct to a performing enhancing drug violation. Berman, who vacated Brady’s four-game suspension on Thursday, wasn’t buying it.

Using rhetoric from the NFL’s CBA, the judge Berman illustrated why comparing steroids to a ball deflation scheme was faulty.
