Tom Brady makes another brief preseason outing against Saints

For the second straight week, Tom Brady had a starting role but not necessarily a starring role in a Patriots’ preseason game. Again, it was more of a cameo.

Brady was 2-for-5 for 13 yards in his three drives in the New England’s game against the New Orleans Saints. He completed a pass to both running back Dion Lewis and tight end Jimmay Mundine. During Brady’s nine snaps, the Patriots offense was held without a first down.

The Patriots were without many of the first-team pass-catchers like Brandon LaFell and Julian Edelman, who did not dress for the game, according to ESPNBoston.com. Tight end Rob Gronkowski dressed but did not play a snap during the game.

Offensive linemen Bryan Stork, Ryan Wendell, and Marcus Cannon also did not dress.

Brady was 1-for-4 for 10 yards in his seven snaps against the Green Bay Packers in the team’s first preseason game. He has missed three days of practice in the last two weeks due to his court hearing in New York City, where he is appealing his four-game suspension for his role in the Deflategate scandal.
