In case you didn’t get the memo, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is back this summer.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu took the plunge this week, with former Saints player Steve Gleason, who has ALS, by his side. Before doing so, Landrieu threw the gauntlet down to Boston and New England.

He nominated Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Ice Bucket Challenge creator Pete Frates, and New England Patriots fans to an inter-city bucket-off to see who can dump the most ice and raise the most money for ALS support and research before the end of Saturday night’s Patriots-Saints preseason game.

Apparently Landrieu missed Walsh taking the challenge last week, and the city of Boston taking the frozen challenge all winter (and spring) long.

This should be an easy victory for New England.
