Former Packers GM to Roger Goodell: ‘Way to go on that Brady thing’

It seems former Packers general manager Ron Wolf is not in Tom Brady’s camp. John Tlumacki / The Boston Globe

Four-hundred and fifty-six pages of testimony later, Roger Goodell appears still to have a supporter in former Packers general manager Ron Wolf.

After receiving his gold jacket in the ceremony which signified induction into the NFL Hall of Fame, Wolf commended the NFL commissioner. “Way to go on that Brady thing,’’ Wolf said, patting Goodell on the back. Wolf’s words are likely in reference to the NFL’s handling of the Deflategate scandal.

It’s possible “that Brady thing’’ is not Deflategate. Or perhaps Wolf was being sarcastic. It’s also possible Goodell’s laugh came because he didn’t hear Wolf. But from the Vine, it appears Wolf’s words are genuine, and Goodell uncomfortably yet happily accepts the compliment with the burst of laughter.

If Wolf is in favor of upholding Brady’s suspension, then the former GM is falling with in line with many of the league’s current front office brass, as NFL owners were reportedly urging Goodell not to concede during Goodell’s arbitration of Brady’s appeal.
