Jets fans fly plane over Patriots training camp with sign that reads ‘Cheaters look up’

The Patriots had a rude disruption to their practice on Thursday. AP

The first day of New England Patriots training camp was almost about football. Almost. A bunch of Jets fans went ahead and ruined it — they always do.

A plane flew over practice on Thursday with a sign trailing that read: “Cheaters look up.’’ The banner was no doubt in reference to Tom Brady’s role in the Deflategate scandal.

For good measure, the plane circled practice twice.

Patriots fans took to social media in response.

According to Metro, the plane was paid for by NYJetsFans.com, the same group that bought billboards urging the firing of Jets GM John Idzik last year and have been lobbying Jets superfan Fireman Ed to return to MetLife Stadium.

“The time has come for Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft to start dealing with reality. Sports fans are not stupid. We have seen this act before from disgraced former superstar athletes. People like Lance Armstrong and Ryan Braun who challenged the system after they got caught red handed. Ben Johnson, Marion Jones, A-Rod, Roger Clemens – the list of people who lied after they got caught cheating is sadly endless,’’ the group’s Jason Koeppel told Metro.

“Why not learn from their mistakes? Take a lesson from Pete Rose who is still banned from baseball because of the way he acted after he got caught. Give up your ridiculous campaign of lies and accept your punishment. Have some integrity. Stop this ‘Tom Foolery’ today.’’

The Jets (5-11) lost to the Super Bowl-winning Patriots twice last season. But no tension here. Move along.
