Broncos receiver on Patriots: ‘They still cheated and shouldn’t be a champion.’
Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders doesn’t think the Patriots deserve to be the Super Bowl champions because of Deflategate.
“You aren’t supposed to cheat,’’ Sanders told campers at a youth football camp in Colorado. “Cheating is not good, especially when you’ve got guys who are working their butts off for 365 days out of the year and one person cheats – whether it helps them win the Super Bowl or not, they still cheated and shouldn’t be a champion.’’
The Patriots were fined $1 million and docked a first round pick in 2016 and a fourth round pick in 2017 for their role in the Deflategate scandal, a punishment they “reluctantly’’ accepted. Quarterback Tom Brady is currently appealing a four-game suspension for his role in the scandal.
