If you had Cam Newton in the “which NFL quarterback will make the first Deflategate joke’’ pool, you’re in luck.

The Carolina Panthers QB took a dig at Patriots signal caller Tom Brady and his alleged involvement in the intentional deflation of footballs in last season’s AFC Championship Game. Newton threw some passes before the 7v7 National Championship, but rejected one ball that he felt was underinflated.

The Panthers and Patriots won’t meet again until 2017 unless both teams make Super Bowl 50 or 51.
