Watch Tedy Bruschi get fired up defending Tom Brady
Former Patriots Tedy Bruschi and Damien Woody squared off on Brady’s role in the Deflategate scandal Friday on ESPN. In the aftermath of the Ted Wells report, Bruschi stood firm in his belief that Brady wouldn’t instruct team employees to illegally tamper with the footballs.
Woody said he thought the cover up was worse than the crime in the Deflategate saga, but Bruschi wasn’t buying it.
“Tom Brady would not tell anyone to do anything illegal,’’ Bruschi said. “I know Tom Brady. I know his integrity. I vouch for him.’’
While Woody found the evidence in the Wells report compelling, he said he still respects Brady as a player.
“Even to this day I still have great admiration for Tom Brady. To me it doesn’t taint his legacy. I still think he’s the greatest quarterback of all time,’’ Woody said. “But we’ve seen athletes time after time make these types of mistakes.’’[fragment number=0]
Woody played in New England from 1999-2003. Bruschi was a Patriot from 1996-2008.
