Gronk Jokes That Obama Might Have Been ‘Wasted’ When He Made Deflategate Joke
Gronk also said, “There was no dancing today, baby,’’ at a White House press conference.
President Obama made a joke about Deflategate today as he honored the Patriots at the White House. Afterwards, player Rob Gronkowksi said, “Maybe the president was getting wasted, from his deflate joke.’’
When Gronk first got up to the podium, he fielded a few questions about why he wasn’t dancing, answering that it was because there was no music. He said that Chandler Jones usually sings and Julian Edelman usually beatboxes, but that “they were scared, so there was no dancing today, baby.’’
“We could put some music on right now for you, if you like,’’ said a woman’s voice from off camera.
Gronk batted down the idea, saying, “No, there’s no drinking.’’
And then he dropped the hypothesis that the leader of the free world had been drinking when he joked about Deflategate.
He looked behind him, at Patriots owner Bob Kraft and coach Bill Belichick, before adding, “We’re still wondering as an organization about that, right?’’
Yes, the Patriots are still wondering about Deflategate. But no one is wondering why Gronk said what he said, because Gronk will be Gronk.
