NFL Exec: Colts GM Tipped Us Off About Deflated Footballs
Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson is the individual who reported suspicions to the NFL that the Patriots were using underinflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game, a league executive said Monday.
NFL Chief of Football Operations Troy Vincent confirmed Grigson’s role in Deflategate in an interview on “60 Minutes Sports’’ set to air Tuesday night on Showtime, according to MMQB.si.com.
Both the league and individual members of the Colts organization had been tight-lipped about who the identity of the whistleblower.
It feels like the Deflategate story has been put to bed a few different times now, especially with the latest report finding that original details may have been exaggerated.
The NFL is still investigating the situation. There is no timetable on when the league expects to be done, although they still haven’t talked to Tom Brady or Bill Belichick.
