For Boston? SNL Takes Down Seahawks Stars, Seattle Fans and New York’s ‘Blizzard’

On the eve of Super Bowl XLIX, “Saturday Night Live’’ tackled the Seattle Seahawks with its cold open. From Richard Sherman’s bombast and Marshawn Lynch’s stubborn inscrutability to the arriviste reputation of Seattle fans, SNL took the air out of the NFC champions.

Likely adding to the enjoyment of viewers in New England, Jay Pharoah’s Sherman also took aim at New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and his city’s over-hyped “blizzard.’’

Such a Boston-friendly segment may have helped Patriots fans forget the cold open from a week earlier. With Deflategate making headlines, SNL set its sights on Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
