Tom Brady Once Knocked Out Jerod Mayo’s Tooth in a Pregame Frenzy
Tom Brady may look like an All-American superhero quarterback to some people, but Jerod Mayo knows a different, more violent side to his teammate.
Mayo joined Toucher and Rich on 98.5 Thursday morning, dodging questions about Deflategate and instead sharing a story about how Brady’s intensity cost him a tooth years ago.
“He’s always been a fiery guy, to me,’’ Mayo said. “He actually broke my tooth a couple years ago, before a game, which is a weird thing. He head-butted me. I didn’t have my mouthpiece in.’’
Needless to say, T&R prodded Mayo for the full story.
“We both had helmets on. My chinstrap wasn’t strapped,’’ Mayo explained. “He came over right before a game, and like, boom. Next thing I know a piece of tooth is in my mouth.’’
Unfortunately for Mayo, he didn’t have enough cache to stand up to Brady at that point.
“At that point, it might have been five years ago, I was still like a young buck so I couldn’t really say anything,’’ Mayo said. “But I was like, ‘Hey, you owe me a tooth.’’’
