Colts Safety Sergio Brown is the Villain New England Needs Right Now

As Patriots fans search for a reason to hate the Colts, a self-professed “Rolex wearing, diamond ring wearing, wheeling, dealing, kiss stealing, limousine riding, jet flying son of a gun’’ is coming to Foxboro, ready to play the villain in Rob Gronkowski’s superhero movie.

Colts safety Sergio Brown played with the Patriots in 2010 and 2011 before moving on to Indianapolis. After contributing next to nothing in New England, Brown helped ruin the Patriots’ season in 2012 when he broke Gronkowski’s arm on a meaningless extra point in Week 11.

Gronk spiraled into a nearly two-year battle with the injury bug, crippling the Patriots Super Bowl hopes in the process.

Revenge was exacted in Week 11 of this past season, when Brown received a Gronking to Remember, complete with a meet and greet with a TV camera.

Gronkowksi was fined $8,268 for his post-whistle emasculation of his former teammate, and Brown tweeted and deleted his feelings on the subject.

It’s not exactly Terrell Suggs vs. Tom Brady. Suggs is unapologetically a Brady-hater and Patriots conspiracy theorist. Brown vs. Gronkowski seems more like a turf war between a hyena and a full grown lion.

To Brown’s credit, he isn’t afraid of Gronkowski. He doesn’t lack for confidence or swagger, as evidenced by his “Ric Flair’’ celebration that’s sweeping the internet.

As Flair once said, “To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man.’’ If Brown and the Colts aren’t up to the task, Gronk and the Patriots will be happy to “throw him out of the club’’ that is the NFL playoffs.
