Alfonzo Dennard’s season is over.

The third-year cornerback was placed on injured reserve Saturday, just one day after being declared out for Sunday’s regular season finale against the Buffalo Bills with a hamstring injury. Dennard, who had been a healthy scratch for nine of the Patriots’ first 15 games, showed up on the injury report for the first time all week on Friday.

As a corresponding move, the Pats announced that second-year wide receiver Josh Boyce would be promoted to the active roster from the practice squad, where’s he’s spent the entire season. Boyce, a fourth-round pick in 2013 out of TCU, caught nine passes for 121 yards in nine games last year.

The team also re-signed defensive back Daxton Swanson to the practice squad, taking Boyce’s spot there, and released defensive lineman Cameron Henderson.
