Patriots Are People, Too: Sealver Siliga Loves Disney Movies, And Wishes He Had Super Strength

FOXBOROUGH — Each week, here on the Extra Points blog, we’ll get to know a Patriots player a little bit better for what kind of person they are off the field. This week, we talked to defensive tackle Sealver Siliga.
Erik Frenz: Tell me one thing about yourself that I wouldn’t find in a Google search?
Sealver Siliga: I love Disney movies.
EF: What’s your favorite one?
SS: Aladdin.
EF: You throw jokes at Jimmy Garoppolo, too?
SS: No, no, I haven’t heard that. I will, for sure.
EF: In one word, describe how you feel before a football game.
SS: My mind is cluttered. Everything is going on all at once. The pressure of doing what I have to do, and then knowing what could happen if I don’t do what I have to do. That’s all out of my head after the first play.
EF: Where did you grow up, and how does Foxborough compare to your home town?
SS: I’m from West Jordan, Utah. It’s a lot smaller, but I mean, I grew up in a similar place. Not many trees, though. It’s real open.
EF: Who’s the funniest guy on the team?
SS: Chandler Jones.
EF: Do you have a good example?
SS: I mean, after he gets a sack, when he dances, that describes Chandler. He’s a goofy guy.
EF: What’s your favorite thing about football season?
SS: Just the bond you have, with the players, the coaches. There’s not really anything you can compare to it, going out there every Sunday and playing with each other, and just knowing if you lose, it’s you guys; if you win, it’s you guys. Just the bond we share from OTAs to now, and the friendships you make throughout the whole process, that’s pretty cool.
EF: Do you have a least favorite thing about football season?
SS: I mean, my least favorite thing is running, but you already know that’s everything we do. It’s a love-hate relationship.
EF: Do you have any unique pregame rituals that you do before every game?
SS: I do a lot of weird stuff. I mainly just cut myself out from the world. I don’t look at my phone the night before, everything’s about the game the night before. I’m not very talkative, especially on game day. I like to keep to myself until I get on the field, and then all of that’s out, and then I can talk for days after that. I’m not real talkative, I just put my headphones on and let the music play.
EF: Who was your favorite player growing up?
SS: I don’t really think I had a favorite. I wasn’t big into football. I didn’t start liking football until high school, when I started noticing that I could be good if I played.
EF: Do you have a favorite player now?
SS: Yeah, he’s the guy that lines up next to me [defensive tackle Vince Wilfork].
EF: What did it feel like the moment you’d be playing for the Patriots?
SS: I was excited, especially because in high school, watching the Patriots do what they’ve done forever, and now being part of it, was exciting — obviously because of the head coach, the quarterback, and the guy who lines up next to me.
EF: What’s your favorite play that you’ve ever made in your career?
SS: My favorite play is the very first day I stepped on the field in the NFL.
EF: What’s the proudest moment of your playing career?
SS: Last year, actually getting the opportunity to show off my skills and what I could do, and getting the opportunity that Belichick gave me, that’s my proudest moment in my career so far.
EF: If you could have one super power what would it be?
SS: Being the strongest. Because if I’m the strongest, nobody can block me. I’d want to be the strongest man ever.
