FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots were without two high-profile players at practice on Wednesday, but for very different reasons.

Defensive lineman Dominique Easley (knee) missed practice, as did running back LeGarrette Blount (not injury related). Blount, according to reports, was in Pittsburgh in court to appeal an August charge for possession of marijuana.

As usual, the Patriots had a laundry list of limited participants in practice. Long-snapper Danny Aiken (concussion), left guard Dan Connolly (ankle), wide receiver Julian Edelman (thigh), offensive tackle Cameron Fleming (ankle), linebacker Dont’a Hightower (shoulder), defensive end Chandler Jones (hip), wide receiver Brandon LaFell (shoulder), running back Shane Vereen (ankle), and linebacker Chris White (ankle) were all limited in practice.

A new name appeared among the limited participants though: defensive end Rob Ninkovich (heel), the team’s sack leader. The Patriots’ pass-rush is already very thin with Jones and Hightower both out of action for the time being, so the Patriots should hold their breath that any injury to Ninkovich is not serious.
