Patriots Waive Special Teams Ace Don Jones

The Patriots’ special teams unit is one of the NFL’s best. But it seems that at least for the time being, the group will carry on without one of its core members.
The Pats waived Don Jones on Thursday evening, barely a week after he gave up his No. 29 to the newly acquired LeGarrette Blount and two since he was deemed a healthy scratch for the Sunday night game at Indianapolis.
No corresponding roster move has been announced by the Pats to replace Jones, who has six special teams tackles on the season, as of yet. If Jones clears waivers, he is eligible for the practice squad.
