Just a week after he won the Brady Backup Bowl and was “on to Cincinnati,’’ it appears that Ryan Mallett’s season is over.

The former Patriots quarterback, who now suits up for the Houston Texans, will miss the rest of the year after an MRI revealed a torn pectoral muscle, according to multiple media reports.

The Houston Chronicle’s John McClain reported the news earlier on Monday.

After being traded from the Patriots at the end of the preseason, the four-year pro finally gotten his first NFL start on Nov. 16 after Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched for their Week 11 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Mallett threw for 211 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Houston’s 23-7 win over Brian Hoyer and the Browns.

Mallet totaled just four pass attempts with the Patriots – all in 2012 – completing one for 17 yards, while also throwing an interception. He was dealt to the Texans on Aug. 31 for a conditional draft pick.
