Patriots Inactives: Chandler Jones Misses Fourth Straight Game

FOXBOROUGH — The New England Patriots will be without their best pass-rushing defensive end for the fourth straight game.
Defensive end Chandler Jones (hip) is out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. The Patriots traded for linebacker Akeem Ayers shortly after Jones’ injury, and Ayers has played a majority of the snaps in replacement duty for Jones.
Offensive tackle Cameron Fleming (ankle) is also inactive this week. The rookie played a big role against the Indianapolis Colts as an extra offensive tackle in the running game, but was rolled up by offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer late in last Sunday’s win. Veteran tackle Marcus Cannon could see an increased workload in that role.
Defensive tackle Dominique Easley (knee), cornerback Malcolm Butler, wide receiver Aaron Dobson, running back James White, and offensive guard Jordan Devey are the Patriots’ remaining inactives.
This means running backs LeGarrette Blount and Jonas Gray will both be active. The Patriots signed Blount to a two-year deal on Thursday, and Gray missed Friday’s practice after showing up late. Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is active for the first time in a month.
