Even the “First Family of Football’’ has an off-day every once in a while. For Peyton and Eli Manning this season, they came on the same day.

Coming off a bounce back win over the Raiders following a blowout against the Patriots, Peyton and the Broncos suffered a huge upset at the hands of the St. Louis Rams. The Broncos were 10 ½ point favorites entering the day, but were beaten 22-7, as Peyton threw just one touchdown against two interceptions.

Meanwhile, in East Rutherford, N.J., Eli had an even worse day against the San Francisco 49ers. The younger Manning threw five interceptions as the Giants dropped to 3-7 on the season.

The atypical atrocious day for both Manning brothers brings back memories of Nov. 11, 2007, perhaps the single worst day that both Mannings played in the NFL.

On that date, Peyton threw six interceptions against the San Diego Chargers, setting an Indianapolis Colts franchise record for most picks in a game as the Colts lost 23-21.

While nowhere near the sheer number of interceptions Peyton threw, Eli had his own share of troubles, throwing two picks that same day in a 31-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Although the brothers combined for eight interceptions that day, neither was probably too upset once the season came to a close. After Eli’s Giants upset the 18-0 Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, he earned a Super Bowl ring to match the one his brother won the year before when his Colts beat the Chicago Bears.
