Washington PR Guy Doesn’t Want Anyone Talking to Colt McCoy

For the first time since Week 17 of 2012, the Washington Redskins have pulled out a win within the NFC East.

Quarterback Colt McCoy and crew completed an overtime win against the Dallas Cowboys Monday night, with Kai Forbath knocking in the game-winning, 40-yard field goal, and Bashaud Breeland sealing the victory by tipping away a pass intended for Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant.

The drama didn’t seem to stop when the game did, though. When the game ended, Tony Wyllie, senior vice president of communications in Washington, was in charge of making sure McCoy got from the field to wherever he needed to be. ESPN Deportes reporter John Sutcliffe made multiple attempts to pull the Washington quarterback away for an interview, while Wyllie provided some resistance, saying “No no no, we gotta go guys, we gotta go,’’ putting his arm around McCoy’s back and leading him away. Annoyance turned into frustration and it boiled over, as Wyllie eventually shouted “No means NO!’’

Eventually, the interview happened, but it was too late, as people on Twitter had more than enough time to draw their own conclusions.

Wyllie explained himself in an interview the next day, saying Sutcliffe had made no prior intention to interview McCoy on the field after the game. Given the Redskins name controversy, the team could use some positive PR. This probably won’t help.
