Tom Brady and Jay Cutler exchange pleasantries after Sunday’s game as Brady’s Patriots beat Cutler’s Bears 51-23 at Gillette Stadium. Brady threw for five touchdowns on the day, while Cutler threw for three, but it was the Patriots who left with a big win heading into their Week 9 matchup with the Denver Broncos.
The Patriots built up a 38-7 lead at halftime over Marc Tressman’s Bears after scoring 21 points over a 57 second span to end the second quarter. His team would eventually fall 51-23 to drop to 3-5 on the season.
Tom Brady congratulates Brandon LaFell after his receiver caught a nine-yard touchdown pass with 1:07 to go in the first half. Brady was near-perfect on the day, completing 30 of his 35 pass attempts for 354 yards and five touchdowns as the Patriots blew out the Bears.
Rob Gronkowski sprints to the end zone after throwing off several defenders en route to a 46-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give the Patriots a 45-7 lead early in the second half. It was Gronk’s third touchdown of the game as he and Brady connected in the end zone for the 46th time, a franchise record.
Brandon LaFell was all smiles after catching a touchdown from Tom Brady in the second quarter. The wide receiver has really come on for the Patriots in the past few weeks; he kept it up on Sunday with 11 catches for 124 yards in the Patriots’ big win.
Jonas Gray carries the ball in the first half. The rookie running back had a very nice day on the ground, rushing 17 times for 86 yards after getting the majority of the carries in Sunday’s win over the Bears.
Jay Cutler runs away from Dominique Easley, who started in place of injured Chandler Jones. The rookie combined with Vince Wilfork for a sack on Cutler in the third quarter, the first of Easley’s career.

Jay Cutler walks off the field after another stalled Chicago drive in the first half. The Bears put up just seven points over the first 30 minutes and trailed by 31 points as the teams headed for the locker rooms.
Rob Gronkowski gets off one of his trademark “Gronk Spikes’’ after a he scored in the first quarter and the Patriots drew first blood. It was the first of three touchdowns Gronkowski would score on the day.
