Alan Branch Spotted in Patriots Locker Room, Despite No Signing Confirmed By Team

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Reporters shuffled toward a 6-foot-6, 325-pound man in a Michigan sweatshirt and Detroit Tigers hat. One person said “Alan,” and the man turned his head.

It didn’t take long for him to politely refuse to speak to media, and understandably so. The Patriots reportedly signed Alan Branch to a contract, but the team has not yet confirmed the signing.

Branch was drafted in the second round (33rd overall) out of Michigan in 2007. He has played for the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, and Buffalo Bills in his eight-year career. The 29-year-old defensive tackle has played primarily on first and second downs, as a run-stuffing specialist.

Branch was not spotted at practice on Wednesday or Thursday, and the Patriots will have to make some kind of roster move before they can make the signing official. But now that Branch has been spotted in the Patriots locker room, it appears a signing is imminent.
