Patriots’ Injury Problems Get Worse Against Bills

Injuries continued to mount for the Patriots, already thinned out in that regard, in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Bills.
In the second quarter, veteran linebacker Jerod Mayo went down with a knee injury and was carted off the field. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that he would remain out for the rest of the afternoon. The Pats were already missing linebacker Dont’a Hightower, who missed his secnod straught game, also with a knee injury. Special teams ace Chris White replaced mayo in the base defense.
While Mayo was being attended to, offensive lineman Dan Connolly, who had solidified the left guard spot for the Pats over the past couple weeks, was taken to the locker room with a head injury. His return was announced as questionable although given his history of concussions, that may be wishful thinking. Connolly was replaced by Jordan Devey.
Then, in the third, Rob Gronkowski went off with an apparent issue with his surgically repaired arm, although he only missed a couple of snaps. One play later, Stevan Ridley took a big hit to his ankle and hit the turf hard. He was helped off and seen later writhing in pain on the sideline. Not five minutes later, he went to the locker room and was declared out for the game.
The Pats’ next game is in four days against the Jets.
