New FXFL Team Boston Brawlers Will Have Games Broadcast on NESN

The Boston Brawlers, the local representative for the new Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), will have its games broadcast on NESN for the 2014 season.

The league announced the parternship Friday. The FXFL will kick off its six-game regular season schedule Oct. 8th with the Brawlers taking on The Omaha Mammoths at TD Ameritrade Park.

The FXFL is hoping to capitalize on what it sees as an unfilled niche between the NFL and lesser, semi-professional leagues.

“I mean I’m getting inundated with phone calls and e-mails from guys on NFL rosters and their agents,’’ FXFL commissioner Brian Woods told Boston.com last month. “We’re not getting guys off the street or veterans. The on field product is going to be exceptional.’’

The Brawlers will play their games Friday nights at Harvard Stadium. Players will be paid $1,000 per game, while tickets will average $30.
