Wes Welker Has a Concussion, Broncos Coach Says
Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker suffered a concussion during Saturday night’s exhibition game vs. the Houston Texans, according to Broncos coach John Fox.
Fox told a Denver radio station of Welker’s diagnosis. Welker was hit by Texans safety D.J. Swearinger late in the first half after catching a pass from Peyton Manning. Welker was tested once he left the field. He must now pass a neurological exam before he can be cleared to return to the field.
Welker, who puts himself in vulnerable positions in the middle of the field, is no stranger to concussions. He suffered two last season, one in Week 11 vs. the Chiefs, and another in Week 14 vs. the Titans. He missed three games but returned for the playoffs.
