Law, Parcells, Clayborn Finalists for Patriots Hall
Cornerback Raymond Clayborn, cornerback Ty Law, and head coach Bill Parcells were all named as finalists for the 2014 Patriots Hall of Fame Wednesday.
This year’s inductee will be the 22nd person enshrined by the team. A panel of media, alumni, and staff came up with the three nominees, the winner of which will be decided by a fan vote.
A first-round pick out of Texas in 1977, Clayborn was a three-time Pro Bowler (1983, 85, 86). He finished his career with a franchise-leading 36 interceptions (tied with Law). As a rookie, he led the NFL with a 31-yard kickoff return average and three returns for touchdowns, both of which are franchise records.
Law spent 10 seasons with the Patriots (1995 to 2004) after joining the team as the 23rd overall pick out of Michigan. Law was a three-time Super Bowl Champion and a four-time Pro Bowl player. His six interceptions returned for touchdowns are a franchise best.
Parcells spent four seasons as head coach of the Patriots from 1993 to 1996, leading New England to two playoff appearances. He led the 1996 Patriots to wins over Pittsburgh and Jacksonville in the playoffs, sending the Pats to the second Super Bowl in franchise history. This is the third time that the Patriots Hall of Fame Nomination Committee has nominated Bill Parcells for Patriots Hall of Fame induction.
