Fans flocked to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on July 6 to exchange jerseys bearing the name of former tight end Aaron Hernandez. The team offered the jersey exchange after Hernandez was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the death of semi-pro football player, Odin Lloyd.

Nicole Gagne, center left, of Rutland, Marta Hernandez of Peabody, center right and her brother Luis Hernandez of Somerville were among the hundreds waiting in line to exchange jerseys for the former Patriots tight end. Luis got a Rob Gronkowski jersey in exchange.

Mike Davies, right, of Norfolk wore his Hernandez football jersey one last time while waiting in an exchange line.

Paul Gaad of Marlborough folded his shirt as he waited in line.

Kathleen Dailey, center, of Franklin Park, N.J., waited to exchange her Hernandez jersey.

Two days have been set aside for the jersey exchange.

A pre-owned ‘On Field’ NFL jersey bearing Hernandez’s old number 81 was on offer July 2 for $2,000 on eBay, while an autographed Hernandez number 81 jersey sold for $1,525 earlier this week, according to eBay’s auction history.

Luis Hernandez originally purchased a Hernandez jersey because they share the same last name.

Authentic Reebok jerseys for Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and Vince Wilfork were available for exchange, and another eight replica player jerseys were in stock as well.

Steve Burke used a Hernandez jersey to keep cool while waiting in line.

Fans began lining up outside the store before 8:00 a.m. There were more than 100 people by the time the doors opened at 9:30 a.m.

Children used Hernandez jerseys to shield themselves from the sun.

The Patriots announced plans for the jersey swap after releasing Hernandez from the team.

Some people talked about the case against Hernandez during the jersey exchange.

Lines started before 8:00 a.m. and wrapped around outside for most of the morning.

Fans exchanged the Hernandez jerseys outside and then, after the jerseys were inspected for authenticity, entered the store to shop.

Authentic Tom Brady, Vince Wilfork, and Rob Gronkowski jerseys were available.

To help combat the heat wave, the Patriots set up water stations for fans in line.
