Edwards traded to Jets
The New York Jets have reportedly worked out a trade this morning with the Cleveland Browns for wide receiver Braylon Edwards. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns will receive wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and undisclosed draft picks from New York.
Edwards made headlines in Cleveland the past few days after an alleged incident outside a Cleveland night club during which he was accused of assaulting a friend of Cleveland cavaliers star LeBron James. James called Edwards, “childish” after the incident. “I’ve never crossed paths with Braylon before, but it seems like there’s a little jealousy going on with Braylon and me and my friends. I have no idea why,” he said. “I’ve never said anything to Braylon at all. But for him to do that is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously. It’s like hitting one of my kids. It doesn’t make sense.”
Edwards responded to the situation on his Twitter page, posting, “I have no issue with LeBron. I respect and admire him.”
Edwards, 26, has struggled each of the last two seasons with the Browns. He enjoyed his best season in 2007, catching 80 passes for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has yet to find the end zone this season, though it remains to be seen how the quarterback mess in Cleveland contributed to that.
