Report: Feeley to join Panthers
It’s been speculated that the Patriots, who have just Tom Brady and rookie free agent Brian Hoyer on their quarterback depth chart, will add a veteran backup sooner rather than later.
But it apparently won’t be A.J. Feeley.
According to ESPN scoopmeister Adam Schefter, the former Eagles quarterback is going to sign with the Carolina Panthers.
Tweeted Schefter:
Just filed to ESPN: Carolina has a new QB on its roster – A.J. Feeley. He’s got Carolina on his mind.
Feeley, a 32-year-old veteran of nine NFL seasons, was released by the Eagles on Sept. 6. He has also played for Miami and San Diego, mostly as a backup, though he has had some success against the Patriots in his career.
The Panthers would seem a logical destination for Feeley since starter Jake Delhomme is coming off a horrendous four-interception performance yesterday and backup Josh McCown was reportedly placed on injured reserve this afternoon after suffering sprains to his foot and knee in the Panthers’ 38-10 loss to the Eagles.
