Rivers agreed to a deal to become the next head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Rivers parted ways the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday after spending seven seasons as their head coach. The Clippers were knocked out in the Western Conference Semifinals in September after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Nuggets.

The series loss to the Nuggets was the second time the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead in a series during Rivers’ time as head coach. The Clippers squandered a 3-1 lead to the Houston Rockets in the Western Semis in 2015 as well. Rivers was also the team’s president of basketball operations that season. He relinquished those duties after the 2017 season, but failed to make it past the second round of the playoffs during his seven seasons in Los Angeles.

Rivers became the Clippers’ head coach in 2013 after the Celtics traded him for a 2015 first-round draft pick.

Rivers’ biggest accomplishments as a head coach came during his nine years in Boston. He helped guide the team to an NBA title in 2008, breaking a 22-year title drought. He led the Celtics back to the NBA Finals in 2010 where they lost to the Lakers in seven games.

Prior to his time in Boston, Rivers coached the Orlando Magic for five seasons. After missing the playoffs in his first season, he led the Magic to the playoffs in the next three years. They lost in the first round each time. He was fired just 11 games into the 2003-04 season after the Magic got off to a 1-10 start.
