The Spurs retired Matt Bonner’s flannel shirt in ‘cozy and private ceremony’
"Next year's NBA Christmas jerseys?"
After announcing his retirement from the NBA on January 6, New Hampshire native Matt Bonner got the proper treatment from his old team, the San Antonio Spurs.
In a tweet on Thursday night, Spurs guard Manu Ginobili showed the “very cozy and private ceremony” that Bonner’s former teammates held to retire his clothing of choice, a flannel shirt.
Bonner, 36, played in San Antonio for the majority of his career (2006-2016), winning two championships and proving himself a consistent weapon from beyond the arc (shooting 41.3 percent with the Spurs).
Bonner responded on Twitter, noting that he sees potential in the makeshift flannel uniform:
What do you think? Next year’s NBA Christmas jerseys? pic.twitter.com/66rLB1SS1V
