The list of athletes in ESPN’s Body Issue includes Adam Rippon, a former UConn star, and a 63-year-old golf legend
Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe made history as the first same-sex couple to appear together on the cover.
For the 10th anniversary of ESPN The Magazine’s special edition “Body Issue,” set to hit newsstands on June 29, the publication photographed an array of athletes from across the sporting world.
Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe made history as the first same-sex couple to appear together on the cover, while two-time major champion Greg Norman — 42 years after he turned professional — swung a driver in an outfit that wouldn’t fly under most course dress codes.
“It’s pretty amazing to think about [being on the cover of the Body Issue], especially in the times we’re in,” Rapinoe said. “Just think of how far we’ve come, but also the current climate. Not only are we female athletes, but we’re dating as well. It’s kind of bad-ass.”
Unlike past editions, when Aly Raisman, Vince Wilfork, and Rob Gronkowski graced the special issue with their championship physiques, there are no Boston athletes this time around.
Here’s the full list of athletes in this year’s “Body Issue”:
