Rob Gronkowski brought Drake Maye and Tom Brady together: With the Patriots once again thriving — now 6-2 under the burgeoning leadership of Drake Maye — New England fans could be forgiven for comparing the success to the Tom Brady era.

And while Maye and the current iteration of New England football still has years to go before it can be properly compared with the dynasty years, former Patriots tight end (and current Fox Sports NFL analyst) Rob Gronkowski connected the two Patriots quarterbacks together for a recent segment.

Showing up to Gillette Stadium, Gronkowski strolled down memory lane before meeting up with Maye for an interview. He reminded Maye of New England’s Super Bowl-winning heritage (of which Gronkowski was a major contributor).

Maye said he still studies classic Patriots games on film.

“Watching the tape is one of my favorite things to do,” he said.

The future Hall of Fame tight end had a simple message for Maye.

“Be yourself. That’s huge,” said Gronkowski. “That’s what everyone told me when I first got here.”

Eventually, the now-retired tight end had an idea.

“Let’s FaceTime him,” Gronkowski said of Brady, his TV colleague. “Let’s do it.”

“Don’t take this the wrong way,” he joked after getting Brady on-screen. “I’m actually with my new favorite quarterback of the New England Patriots.”

Gronkowski yielded the floor to Brady and Maye, with the former praising the latter’s talent.

“I might’ve made a decent career myself if I could do some of the things that kid can do,” Brady said of the 23-year-old QB.

Brady closed with simple advice for his New England successor.

“Keep it up my man.”
