Brad Marchand’s future: Former Bruins winger Brad Marchand is currently playing in the Stanley Cup Final, though as a member of the Florida Panthers. Marchand, 37, was traded to Florida in March for a compensation draft pick (which will reportedly now be a first-rounder thanks to playoff-related conditions of the deal being met).

Marchand scored in Game 1, though the Panthers lost to the Oilers in overtime. Prior to the game, he sat down with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman for an interview about his time in Florida, and his future. For the first time in his career, Marchand is set to become an unrestricted free agent following the end of the season. Friedman asked him if he’s thought about his future.

“I’ve thought about potential situations. But until you know what [the] options are, it’s all theoretical,” Marchand explained. “So, I’ve kind of parked all that. And I’m just — especially right now — just being in the moment and enjoying it. I don’t want to take anything away from it. Just having fun. After playoffs, you’re looking at it, and it’s going to come fast. But there will be a time and place for that.”

Asked if he could picture himself playing for a Canadian team, Marchand could his options open.

“Anything’s on the table,” Marchand told Friedman. “I’m going to listen to anything. We’ll deal with it when the time comes, and we’ll see what the right fit is.”

The Bruins are projected to have approximately $25 million in cap space in the summer, though recent speculation places a potential Marchand return to Boston at an $8 million price tag.

Trivia: Brad Marchand has played in four Stanley Cup Finals against four different teams. Can you name them?

(Answer at the bottom).

Hint: 2011, 2013, 2019, and (obviously) 2025.

Scores and schedules:

The Red Sox avoided the three-game sweep thanks to a Ceddanne Rafaela’s walk-off home run (seen below), earning an 11-9 win over the Angels on Wednesday afternoon.

On Friday, the Red Sox begin a three-game series against the Yankees in New York at 7:05 p.m.

More from Boston.com:

They all count: Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 308-foot walk-off on Wednesday that, according to MLB’s Home Run Report, would only have been a home run at Fenway Park.

Oilers take Game 1: The Oilers won thanks to a Leon Draisaitl overtime winner. After not scoring at all in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, the 29-year-old German notched a pair of goals in the 4-3 win.

On this day: In 2001, the Red Sox defeated the Tigers 4-3 in 18 innings thanks to a Shea Hillenbrand walk-off home run. Manny Ramirez was intentionally walked during the game a team record four times.
