Revolution left back Peyton Miller and the Premier League: Fresh off scoring his first MLS goal, Revolution left back Peyton Miller could be heading for a bigger stage in the coming months.
According to Seth Macomber of The Blazing Musket, Miller is a transfer target for English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. This comes after a separate report from Fox Sports soccer reporter Doug McIntyre, who said on Monday that, “At least one Premier League club wants to buy him this summer.”
It’s not exactly a shock that European teams would be interested in Miller, a 17-year-old Revolution academy graduate who is originally from Connecticut. He was the club’s youngest ever signing when he put pen to paper in 2023 at the age of 15.
Despite his youth, Miller is already a regular starter at left back (or, more recently, left wing-back). He was included in the MLS Team of the Matchday following his recent performance (in which he also notched an assist to fellow wing-back Ilay Feingold) in the 3-0 win over CF Montreal.
Another credit to his recent success was the news earlier last week that he’d been called up to the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team training camp ahead of its participation in the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in September.
“I’m told that Tottenham has had talks with the New England Revolution about acquiring Peyton Miller,” Macomber said in his report.
McIntyre pointed out that even if a deal is reached to acquire Miller this summer (the offseason for European clubs), FIFA rules stipulate that he would not be able to join the new team until his 18th birthday (on Nov. 8). So if a deal was agreed to in the coming weeks, New England would likely be able to keep Miller via loan through the end of the 2025 MLS season.
“Either way, he’s expected to be in Europe by January [of 2026], multiple sources tell FOX Sports,” McIntyre concluded.
Miller could end up being the latest in a plethora of talented players who the Revolution have fostered in recent seasons who eventually moved to Europe. Along with former starters like Matt Turner, Adam Buksa, Tajon Buchanan, and Djordje Petrovic getting transfer moves overseas, the Revolution have also started to have success developing academy players. Former academy graduate Esmir Bajraktarević was signed in January by Dutch powerhouse PSV Eindhoven.
In the short term, Miller will continue to be an important part of a Revolution team that is currently on a nine-game unbeaten run. New England will have this weekend off amid an international break, and next plays on June 14 at home against FC Cincinnati.
Trivia: The current Premier League record holder for most consecutive appearances is a former Revolution head coach. Can you name him?
